On March 25th from 11h to 13h, XOIC (Xarxa Oberta d’Internet de les Coses) participates with Fundació Cerezales Antonino y Cinia in the Hacendera Abierta event. During this online meeting we will share experiences, milestones, opportunities and benefits of open common networks for people and things.
We will share Iker Bilbao’s personal experience as Wireless-ISP over Guifi.Net’s (common and open network) implantation at Alcover (Tarragona area). We will also introduce use and reason for the open&common networks for the Internet of Things in his implementation of Smart Cities and personal use.
We will compare rural and urban areas deployment characteristics for these networks. Some problems remain the same but in the rural areas we can find different players, chances and capabilities.
Hacendera Abierta spots the idea that Internet and pasture resemble. The net means the same to pro-common than pastures to the communal. In our environment still lives, sometimes in a lighter way but still quite notorious, the culture of sharing what others need for a good living, the economy where you can use local resources, get involved in the local culture and find areas for personal growth and create relationships. Internet, as the room and tool for citizenship exercise, opens in the rural and urban scenarios and becoming, as it happens in other places, a new common to be shared from self-management rather than a service. Hacendera Abierta suggests us to think about the relationship of the community towards the infrastructure than widens our reality.
