On December 14th we celebrated a new TTN face-to-face meeting in Barcelona, @ttncat, in which we participated from XOIC with the friends of IoT Barcelona, @iotbcn. The meeting took place in the Margarita Salas room of the Canòdrom – Ateneu d’Innovación Digital i Democràtica, where about 30 people gathered together. It was a good opportunity to reconnect with members of both communities, and also to welcome many new faces.
The meeting was a showcase of projects (“show and tell”) in the purest maker style. The different participants presented their hardware and software projects. We were able to share the first experiences of some of the participants with TTN’s comprehensive solutions, which greatly encouraged the newcomers. During the day we were able to comment on the current state of IoT, LoRaWAN and the TTN network. We shared practical experiences and doubts were resolved, both from those who had no experience but were curious and from professionals from other fields with an interest in IoT.
Some examples of what we could see:
• A business model to provide various services to companies, based on IoT over TTN.
• A demonstration of how to control switches remotely through a web application.
• How Smart Manufacturing students use TTN at the Escola del Treball.
• MING (Mosquitto, InfluxDB, NodeRed, Grafana) is establishing itself as the standard technology stack for IoT.
In conclusion, it was very interesting to meet, face each other and share some time together commenting and presenting IoT technology, proposals and realities. We were able to share experiences and advice on hardware tools, software and platforms.
We want to thank everyone who participated in the meeting. Furthermore, we know that the three WisBlock Starter Kits courtesy of RAKWireless that were delivered are in good hands!
The call was made through the usual channels: the mailing list thingsnetworkbarcelona@llistes.guifi.net and also on MeetUp. Sign up for these channels of communication and don’t miss the next event.
We look forward to seeing you at the next meeting!
